I have to admit that I loved the sound effects for some of the power-ups, and the background graphics are really good.Įach level is slightly more difficult than the previous level, as more colors are added, and fewer orbs in the desired color along the edges. There are Rotation power-ups that shuffle all the orbs, Stars that eliminate several random orbs, Lightning & fireballs that eliminates nearby orbs, Exclamations that eliminates all orbs of the same color, and the numbers1 or 5 that will allow you to choose either 1 or 5 orbs to remove. Using a little bit of strategy, however, allows you to destroy several orbs in a single move.Įach level usually has power-ups that only remain briefly, and when hit with an orb, the power-up will be activated. There is an unlimited number of colored orbs located on all four sides of the board, all you need to do, is select and click on an identical colored orb from one of the sides which will travel in a straight line until it hits another orb (or power-up) If the selected orb hits another identical colored orb or orbs, they are removed. The gameplay itself is simple, but the game itself isn't so simple to master. There's no timer or limited moves, so you take all the time in the world to clear the orbs, which makes this type of game very relaxing, yet addictive.

this 2-orb match, which was a bit disappointing. For some reason, they didn't offer an Expert Mode on this installment, or at least I couldn't find one, which requires a Match 3 vs. I also love that there are 6 Profile slots available so that other family members can play too, and there are colored tabs for each profile with challenge levels. There are 190 Clear It puzzles available to solve, the first 2 Clear It games only had 150, the 3rd Clear It had a whopping 205 which diminished to 180 on the last or 4th installment, yet they all claim to have 10 hours of gameplay? I love that the next level pops-up the second you finish the prior level, but that's because there is no scoring, thus, no score pop-up window. Unfortunately, this isn't a very challenging game, therefore, they do tend to become monotonous, especially for hardcore Match 3 fans. I have purchased all previous Clear It games using a PCC (punch card coupon) and I completed each game with the exception of this one (I will wait until BPM (bonus punch Monday) They are all decent games, but the features are always the same, the only thing that changes from game to game, is the layout of the playing field. SEEMS EXACTLY THE SAME AS CLEAR IT 1-4? *more like a 3.7-star rating* Fairly well done, just not a game for me. Try it for yourself: you can even try the 1st level of the 7-color boards to get a sense of eventual difficulty. I also like that in the upper-hand corner you can see how many stones you have left to remove before being able to advance to the next level: at first, it doesn't have to be all of them! Make sure you bring up the help screen at first so you can see what the power-ups do: that'll improve your odds of success! I'm sure this will please many players who can't get enough of these games and keep them playing for hours.

highlight the row and column of the target) when selecting a stone I would also like the colors to be more apart in the spectrum: even on the 2-color levels, the combination of lemon yellow and apple green is just un-appealing to me, combined with an hexagonal 3D effect?!? Why not red with green, or yellow with purple? Better yet, why not let the player choose the colors they prefer? This isn't my favorite genre, and this edition is not going to convert me: for instance, I'd prefer it if I could get crosshairs (e.g. Some people think that of nonogram-type games =D The boards increase in difficulty from 2 colors up to 7 colors, and I admit that the boards just seem similar to other editions feels like if you have 1 game, you have them all. Can be improved Review based on the trial.ĬLEARIT 5 is one of those games like QUADRIUM that combines brain teaser and marble popping genres.
